GNO Does the Junos!

Good Night Out (GNO) Vancouver is partnered with the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), Tegan and Sara Foundation, The Vancouver Juno Host City Committee and WorkSafe BC, to help implement safety measures inside music venues and the public realm during Juno week (March 22 -25, 2018) in Vancouver.

Prior to Juno Week, staff and representatives from JunoFest venues, as well as the Lets Hear It Live site, were invited to receive training on how to help prevent and address sexual misconduct and harassment. This was supported during the event, with clear signage and messaging throughout venues, to include resources for reporting and assistance for those affected.

In parallel with the street team's work, Good Night Out, in collaboration with Tegan and Sara Foundation's Safer Spaces Initiative, seeks to make all venues a safer environment, both physically  and emotionally for members of the LGBTQ community. From implementing a zero-tolerance policy for Homophobia, Transphobia, Sexism, Racism and Religious Discrimination to ensuring that all gender restrooms are available, The Safer Spaces initiative has proven to be a valuable and much needed resource kit for venues, promoters and tours.

Good Night Out Beer - Brewer's Row Charity Collab Beer 2018

Good Night Out Vancouver was graciously selected  as the non-profit to receive  a Brewers Row Collaboration Beer.

Sexual assault is the only violent crime in Canada that isn’t going down. Research has shown that the number of sexual assaults reported to police in Canada averages over 500, 000 every year. Of these,it is estimated that 1 in 5 are drug-facilitated, with the most common drug used being alcohol.

In response to this, Good Night Out has incorporated 75 different statistics and  facts about sexual assault and consent into the labels of the beer. Sold in 4 packs, each can includes a peel off Good Night Out sticker with the #nowyougno fact underneath. People were encouraged share photos of their cans using that hashtag on Instagram. This was intended to casually educate people as they enjoy the beer and normalize the topic of consent in social situations.

Port Moody’s Brewers Row Charity Collaboration Brew is a yearly project that brings together local craft breweries to create a beer that raises both awareness and funds for a local non-profit. Good Night Out was invited to join the brewers in making the beer on brew day, which was held at Twin Sails in Port Moody. Thanks so much to the Brewer's Row breweries, Twin Sails and Summit Print who made the amazing labels!
